Marqui Taylor, Student Midwife, birth and postpartum doula
Marqui is a student at Birthwise Midwifery school and mother to (now) 3-year-old son, Tegan. She is an artist committed to the diverse world of the Birthing Arts.
Graduating from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2010 with a B.A. in Community Art and Social Entrepreneurship, Marqui is a multidimensional activist focusing on inclusion, justice in birth, and marginalized groups, and advocacy for birthing persons and children.
Marqui is also a practicing writer, videographer, photographer and multimedia artist focusing on conceptual and installation art.
With a professional background in case management, education, and social services, Marqui has been a Doula in major urban cities since 2012, working with women and their families in Baltimore City, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.
She is a personal diversity-centered resource particularly for nontraditional families and has supported individuals and couples from black and brown families, single parents, adopting and surrogate families, interracial families, pregnant teens, and LGBTQIA families.
She is also the founder and owner of Birth Brown (formally The Philly Birth Project).
